Course Description
This course will introduce students to the basic concepts and vocabulary associated with the study of global environmental change, examining its ecological, social, and ethical aspects. We will then apply this information to 3 environmental issues of global significance: the protection of wilderness and wildlife; the management of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting chemicals; and the preservation of genetic resources and biodiversity. Case studies from different parts of the world will help focus our discussions of each of these issues, and illustrate how environmental change affects our daily lives.
