Course Description

An examination of current theory and research related to the diagnosis and treatment of substance-related problems. The course will focus on patterns of alcohol and drug abuse and dependence, with consideration of possible causes and the identification of significant risk factors, especially among young people. Major emphasis will be on understanding substance abuse within a community perspective, with a focus on community-based programs of treatment and prevention.
