Course Description

The course will focus on both digital communication techniques used in wireless transmission and on communication networking for data transmission. Equal emphasis will be given to both areas. This course is independent of the Fall course, Fundamentals of Communication Systems, which is not a prerequisite. The digital techniques portion covers the basics of information capacity of transmission channels as well as various source coding and digital modulation techniques. The networking lectures will include discussion of various system architectures and the protocols used to insure reliable communications.
