Course Description

A design-oriented introduction to the techniques of modern automatic test systems, covering both hardware and software. Topics include: automated testing in engineering and manufacturing; the IEEE-488 instrument bus; programmable test equipment; the device under test interface; modular software development; and human engineering and ethical considerations. The course includes a project in which students develop a complete automated test system for some real device. Student designs are implemented in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department's Automated Test System Laboratory.
