Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of groundwater hydrology, starting with a discussion of the origin and occurrence of groundwater, the hydrologic cycle, and basic geology as applies to groundwater hydrology. Essential concepts of groundwater hydrology will be covered, including aquifer parameters, Darcys Law, gradients, flow nets and equations of groundwater flow. Methods of determining aquifer hydrologic characteristics will be discussed including a review of the field investigation methods. Groundwater models including its benefits and limitations will be discussed. Pre-Requisite: 92.125.
