Course Description

This course will examine the social and cultural uses of food. The origins of food preferences will be discussed along with the sociodemographic determinants, food faddisms, their benefits and harms. Components of the course will also explore vegetarianism and the nutritional consequences, the effects of food on mood and behavior, and the healing benefits of food.
