Course Description

Familiarizes students with how an industrial purchasing department acquires materials and services, either domestically or globally, of the right quality, in the right quantity, at the right price, at the right time, from the right source. The course will familiarize the student with the basic tasks required of an industrial purchasing department and how these activities contribute to the effective and efficient management of the firm. The Purchasing Principles course consists of four major modules: procurement practices; administration of purchasing departments; materials and logistics management; and current issues and trends in purchasing.
