Course Description

Wan Protocols provides better understanding of the concepts, terminology, operation, implementation and configuration of the various WAN protocols and services available within the Nortel Networks router. These include Frame Relay, PPP, Bay Networks Dial Services and Data Compression. The hands-on labs closely emulate the wide area environment that includes workstations, routers and various WAN switches for connection to Frame Relay, ISDN and PSTN. Comparable to UMass Lowell's 90.461 when combined with AV0030120 LAN Protocol Implementation.

Prerequisites & Notes

  • Prerequisites: Internetworking Fundamentals, course number AV0025000; Router Installation and Basic Configuration, course number AV0030080 and Router Configuration and Management, course number AV0030090 OR Accelerated Router Configuration, course number AV0025110; Working knowledge of Site Manager and Technician Interface (TI)also required.
  • Special Notes: Students must be enrolled in the Data/Telecommunications: Nortel Router Track certificate program and have completed at least one of UMass Lowell's Data/Telecommunications courses to receive credit for this Nortel Networks course.
