Applying into the Leadership in Schooling, Ed.D.

When do you plan to start your program?

By selecting an option above, you will be directed to our application system, where you will create an account and begin your application. After starting your application, you may save and return to it later by using your new account credentials.

Applying into a Graduate Degree Program

This is an online cohort-based program that begins once each year in May and follows a trimester schedule.

Applications are accepted during the preceding year starting April 1.

This program's priority deadline is:

  • November 30 for Summer admission

Priority applications are reviewed after the deadline. Applications with missing materials are not reviewed.

Applications received after the deadline, if there are openings, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Admission decisions are sent by year end, with a commitment date in January for accepted applicants. Should spots in the cohort become available, waitlisted applicants will typically be notified in February.

All applicants must submit:
  • An application
  • An application fee ($50)
  • A statement of purpose in which the applicant describes their understanding of equity-based educational problems and identifies and articulates the reasons to address a contextually relevant, equity-based problem—should span two pages
  • Two letters of recommendation that speak towards the candidate's capacity for/record of leadership in or relevant to K-12 settings and their commitment to learning and continued personal and professional growth including an ability to give and receive feedback/engage in interchange of ideas
  • A resume
  • Official transcripts
  • Official test scores
    • GRE not required
    • If English is NOT the national language in your home country, please submit one of the following English proficiency tests:
      • TOEFL: minimum acceptable score is 90
      • IELTS: minimum acceptable score is 7.0
      • Duolingo: minimum acceptable score is 115
      • ASC English: minimum acceptable level is 6
      • Pearson Test of English: minimum acceptable score is 53

Admission Requirements

  • Master's degree in a field relevant to K-12 education, M.Ed. or Ed.S. from an accredited institution
  • Should be currently working in a K-12 school or other setting that serves these students, have at least three years of experience as a teacher and/or as an instructional leader, have a commitment to continuing to serve such students as a leader who will influence excellence and equity
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in such settings

F1 student visas are not issued for this program.
