Course Description

This course will focus on developing distributed commerce-oriented applications using a UML Intranet and ties into the Internet. The course will cover the following topics: distributed networking/internet/client server, IDL (Interface Definition Language), COM/DCOM (Component Object Model/Distributed Component Object Model) and CORBA (Common Object Reques Broker Architecture), Java (for components) and Visual Basic (for clients), Components (Distributed Active X Components)/Distributed Objects, persistence, transactions and databases, security and qualification of clients (users), and message queuing.
