Information for Students Who Wish to Study Online in Their Home Country
Graduate Degree and Certificate Programs
In addition to meeting standard graduate admissions requirements, you must submit proof of English language proficiency (Duolingo, TOEFL or IELTS) if English is not the primary language in your home country. If World Education Services (WES) verification of your undergraduate transcript is required (this varies by school and program, check with Graduate Admissions), you will need to pay WES a fee for this service.
Undergraduate Degree and Certificate Programs
In addition to meeting our standard admissions requirements, you must provide proof that you have completed a high school (secondary school) education. UMass Lowell partners with World Education Services (WES) to confirm that your secondary school education meets our academic requirements. You will need to pay WES a fee for this service.
Transferring Previously Earned Credits
Many international students have been able to apply credits previously earned at other colleges or universities outside the U.S. towards their UMass Lowell certificate or degree program. Please visit World Education Services and follow the steps for getting your transcript(s) evaluated.
You must also provide UMass Lowell with course descriptions for any college-level courses you would like to transfer.
- Course descriptions must be in English or include a certified translation.
- Course descriptions should be emailed to OCE_Admissions@uml.edu along with your name and either your date of birth or your UMass Lowell student I.D. number (if you have already started your application).
- This information must be received by UMass Lowell before we can make any application and course transfer decisions.
