Course Description

Addresses selected topics in modern Russian history: political and social reforms of the nineteenth century, international policies in Europe and Asia, the 1917 revolutions, development of the new regime under Lenin, Stalinist policies, World War II, and Russian expansion. A comparative study of these topics will underscore patterns of continuity in both Tsarist and Communist Russia.
