Course Description

Review of probability and random variables. Random processes; statistics of white noise; Fourier analysis of periodic random processes; Karhunen-Loeve expansion; narrow-band Gaussian processes; linear systems. Discrete-time and continuous-time matched filters; spectral factorization and solution of integral equations. Maximum likelihood receivers. Digital modulation. Information theory: entropy, ratio distortion theory, channel capacity, and introduction to coding.
