Course Description

A workshop format encourages peer criticism of individual writings and discussion of models from various texts.

Prerequisites, Notes & Instructor

  • Section Notes: This course invites you to contemplate and cultivate your relationship to self and the world through a reflective writing practice. You will draw inspiration for your writing from your own experiences, memories, family stories, and even treasured objects, as well as from the contemplative texts we'll be reading in a variety of genres, including memoirs, letters, journals, essays, and poetry, among others. We will focus on writing as a creative process, with an emphasis on drafting and revising, as well as on experimentation with a variety of forms, such as journal entries, personal narrative essays, reflective essays, prose poems, and more. At the end of the semester you will compose a final project in your chosen genre. ;
