Thermal Fluids Laboratory

Summer 2024 > Engineering/Engineering Technology > MECH.4030 > 022

Course No: MECH.4030-022; SIS Class Nbr: 2297; SIS Term: 3340
Course Status: Registration Closed

Course Description

Students perform experiments demonstrating thermal fluids concepts, including fluid mechanics and heat transfer, in a laboratory setting. They engage with measurement and diagnostics systems, including various transducers, their associated signal conditioners, as well as digital data acquisition and recording devices. Statistical methods are emphasized for data analysis. Students perform calibration and select appropriate sampling rates and test durations for experiments. The systems tested range from a simple multi-sensor laboratory apparatus to commercial scale thermal-fluids systems. Meets Core Curriculum Essential Learning Outcome for Quantitative Literacy (QL).
