Course Description
Introduces students to chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards in work environments, and the role that engineers and other professionals can play in protecting the health of the work force. Through a series of lectures and case studies, examples of the risks of work in modern manufacturing and service occupations are presented. Students work in small groups to apply basic principles of hazard identification and control. The social and economic complexities of the workplace are also explored as they influence the solution to technical problems.
