Course Description
The Emergency Medical Technician course content is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality pre-hospital care for patients in the emergent setting. Students will be prepared to treat and care for patients in the community prior to and during transport to a medical facility. This will include critical thinking skills to efficiently assesses, evaluate, triage, and treat medical and trauma emergency patients according to need and federal and stat guidelines. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam.
Prerequisites, Notes & Instructor
- Prerequisites: ENGL.1020 College Writing II, and ZCHS student, or Student in SIS Pre-Health Student Group, or Permission of Instructor.
- Section Notes: The cost of the State OEMS application fees, and associated EMT examination fees are not included in the cost of UML tuition for this course. Students are responsible for registering themselves and paying those fees with the associated governing body that administers them.
