Course Description

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has broad application domains including e-commerce, healthcare, manufacturing, education, entertainment, arts and designs and so on, enabling impactful applications and improving productivity. this course provides a solid introduction to the concept, theoretical foundation, system development and performance of GenAI. the topics of this introductory course include the fundamentals of machine learning and deep learning, GenAI systems, transformer and large language models (LLM), pre-training and fine tuning of LLM, performance evaluation and optimization. Students will also learn the applications of GenAI and programming interfaces. The safety, privacy and responsibility GenAI will be discussed. Through the combination of lectures, written and coding assignments, students will learn the fundamental knowledge about GenAI systems and practical skills on using the state-of-art GenAI platforms and tools.
