Leadership Skills

Overview

Skillful leaders display high levels of emotional intelligence and are able to adapt their style in response to what is happening in the moment. In this interactive program, we will explore the mindsets and skillsets that the foundation of effective leadership including: leveraging your strengths and the strengths of those around you, building successful relationships, and gaining awareness of the impact you have on others. You will learn what it takes to proactively address your leadership development opportunities as you continue to deliver on goals and objectives to achieve results.

Who Should Attend

This program is ideal for both seasoned project managers as well as those who are just stepping in, or hoping to step in, to a leadership role. The skills and competencies that will be covered are appropriate for leaders and managers in all fields — from high-tech and bio-tech, to manufacturing and construction.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

  • Explore the role emotional intelligence (EQ) plays in effective leadership. Review some of the core characteristics and preferred styles of high performing leaders.
  • Greater awareness of your individual leadership profile. Identify your own EQ leadership strengths and gaps as they relate to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.
  • Explore how self-awareness is at the core of the emotionally intelligent leader. Recognize how emotions affect your performance, ability to make accurate assessments, and source of confidence.
  • Deepen your capacity for emotional self-control and empathy. Identify what triggers emotions at work, how to remain composed during challenging times, and the value of understanding diverse perspectives.
  • Create a developmental action plan. Consider how your strengths and gaps as a leader impact your ability to manage conflict, problem solve, build relationships and influence others. Draft a forward-looking action plan identifying resources needed for further growth and accountability.
