Unix / Linux Account Request Form

If you have registered for an GPS class that requires a Unix or Linux account, you will need to request an account using this form. Once we receive your request, an account will be created for you on ce.uml.edu which is running UNIX (Solaris) and cyberserver.uml.edu which is running Linux (Ubuntu). Your home directory and passwords will be the same for both systems. You will need to use a Secure Shell (ssh) program to access the systems. You can find tutorials for logging in and transferring files at https://gps.uml.edu/tutorials/unix-linux/linux/index.cfm.

To request an account, please enter your information below. All fields must be consistent with the information provided at the time of registration. Make sure you enter only the last 4 digits of your Student ID, and not the whole number! Once you have entered the required information, click the "Look for Your Account" button to continue.

• You cannot login as soon as you submit this form!
• It can take 1-2 business days to process your information and set up your username and password.
• You will NOT receive anything by email.
• Try to log into your account at the end of the day that you apply (if you applied before 5pm).

If you do not have your Student ID#:

1. Retrieve it from https://connect.umasscs.net/ID_Lookup.html.
2. If you can't retrieve your student ID#, call the SIS Help Desk at 978-934-4357.

Usernames and passwords are currently available for: Summer '23 and Spring '23
