Program Requirements
To be recommended for a University of Massachusetts Lowell master's degree, candidates must satisfy all of the general requirements below, plus any additional requirements that may be required by the department through which the program is offered. Any additional requirements for this program are either listed below or may be found in the University's Graduate Program Catalog.
General Requirements:
- Students must complete the program of study designed by the Department in which they are enrolled and approved by the University.
- Satisfactory grades in all subjects offered for the degree must be earned. See Academic Standing.
- All financial obligations, including tuition, fees and expenses, must be satisfied as evidenced by completion.
- Upon completion of all their courses, graduate degree candidates must submit a signed Declaration of Intent to Graduate (DIG) form to their coordinator. The coordinator will apply them in SIS, Graduation Tracking.

Tuition at UMass Lowell is typically half the cost of private colleges, and our online tuition is among the lowest in the nation. Tuition for online programs offered through the Division of Graduate, Online & Professional Studies is the same whether you live in-state, out-of-state or outside of the U.S.

- You may complete your online MBA within a year at UMass Lowell. Degree completion depends on how many courses you can take each semester and whether you have completed the foundation courses. However, you have up to 5 years to complete your degree.
- Finding an online MBA program accredited by international organizations is one of the most critical factors when selecting a school. Before settling on a program, you should review the school's curriculum and course work. Finally, the value and return on investment you can expect by completing any degree program is a primary concern all students should consider.
- A reputable online MBA program is held to the same standards as an MBA earned on campus. At UMass Lowell, courses are taught by the same faculty, provide the same learning outcomes and you will receive the same diploma as on-campus students.
- Our online programs meet the same academic standards as on-campus programs. All UMass Lowell students who earn a degree receive the same diploma, whether they complete their degree on campus or online.
- The weekly time required for each course varies depending on several factors, including course material and prior knowledge of the subject matter. Students will generally spend between 10 to 15 hours per week on each course.
- Part-time online MBA students usually take one or two courses per semester. Students pursuing the program full-time typically enroll in three to four courses each semester.
- Course enrollment varies from roughly 20 to 40 students per class.
- Courses are available during Fall sessions 1 and 2, Spring sessions 1 and 2 and Summer.
- Yes, if you received a grade of B or better in equivalent courses as an undergraduate student within the past 10 years. We will review your official transcripts during the application process. Foundation course waivers are listed on your acceptance letter.
- No, UMass Lowell's online MBA program is entirely online. Although you are not required to visit the campus anytime, on-campus resources are available to online students.
- Yes, you can sign up for "Continued Matriculation" for up to two semesters, which will hold your spot in the program.
- No. You may complete course work at your own pace and submit assignments by their due date. The syllabus will note any specific log-in times, such as for a midterm or a final exam. Every online course offers an optional weekly chat hour, when the professor and students can interact and review course material.
- Yes. Online MBA students should maintain an overall GPA of 3.000 or higher to remain in good academic standing. A minimum 3.000 GPA is required to graduate. Online MBA students are allowed to receive two grades below a B. If a student earns three grades below a B, an additional course is required with a grade of B or better.
- If you didn't choose an option when you applied to the program, you will need to fill out and submit a Graduate Academic Petition form to declare or change your option. If you wish to choose two options, you will be required to complete an additional three electives in the second option area.

Admission to the MBA Program
Applicants should complete the Online Graduate Application and submit it to the Office of Graduate Admissions, along with the following:
- An official transcript of grades mailed directly from your undergraduate institution to the address below.
- No GMAT/GRE required.
- Two letters of recommendation from employment-related sources
- Resume
- A one-page essay, highlighting academic and career goals (Statement of Purpose)
- For citizens of non-English speaking countries who have never earned an academic degree in the United States: A score report for TOEFL with a 600 (paper based), 250 (computer based) or 100 (Internet based) minimum or an IELTS band score of 7.5 or above must be submitted

Admission to all graduate programs at UMass Lowell is contingent upon successful completion of a bachelor's degree. In many cases, applicants may register for a course before formally applying to the program; however, students requiring financial aid may want to wait until they have been formally accepted into the program to ensure that their course(s) will be covered.
