Early behavioral intervention is key in the successful treatment of autism. UMass Lowell's Department of Psychology, in collaboration with UMass Medical School's Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center, has developed an online, graduate-level Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate Program.
Courses are taught by expert behavior analysts from around the country who work for some of the most respected centers for autism treatment and research.
In addition to the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate Program, the University also offers two master's degree programs towards which many of the autism certificate program courses may be applied:
The Psychology Department at UMass Lowell prepares undergraduate and graduate students for careers in the field of psychology. Qualified and strongly motivated students will benefit from the department's commitment to scholarship that is innovative, collaborative, interdisciplinary and relevant to diverse populations and individual or community well-being.
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center has been a pioneer in research, education and service for people with developmental disabilities and their families for over three decades. In 2001, the Shriver Center became a part of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and was designated as one of its Centers of Excellence.
Students wishing to pursue certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst through the BACB must apply for, and be accepted to, the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate Program and successfully complete the indicated courses.
Check the BACB website regularly, as the requirements change periodically.
